BBA President Awarded UK National Honour for Services to Blockchain

We are delighted to announce that our president, Professor Naseem Naqvi, has been awarded an MBE, one of the UK’s most prestigious National Honours (King’s Honour), for services to Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies.
The UK National Honours (formerly Queen’s Honours and now King’s Honours) are bestowed on individuals who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields, elevating the UK’s international standing and putting Britain on the map. The Honour celebrates the exceptional people who go above and beyond to change the world around them for the better, and recognises individuals who have selflessly volunteered their time and efforts by doing vital and extraordinary work in the United Kingdom, and beyond.
Professor Naqvi founded The British Blockchain Association (The BBA) in 2017. He was the lead author of the UK’s National Blockchain Roadmap (2021), and the Founder and Editor in Chief of The JBBA – Journal of The British Blockchain Association – the world’s first peer-reviewed scientific journal on blockchain, comprising of an Editorial & Review Board which now spans 71 countries. Prof Naqvi is the founder and chair of the world’s first Centre for Evidence-Based Blockchain (CEBB), and founder and chair of BAF – The Blockchain Associations Forum, bringing blockchain associations from 53 countries on one platform. Under his leadership, the BBA established Blockchain International Scientific Conferences (ISCs), BBA Fellowships (FBBA), BBA metaverse headquarters (world’s first non-profit blockchain industry association to establish a metaverse headquarters), and a host of other world-class blockchain and web3 initiatives.
Dr Naqvi is an Honorary Professor of Blockchain at Epoka University. In 2018, he was named a “Think Tank” and a “Blockchain Influencer” by the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group. He was the first person in the world to coin the term “Evidence-Based Blockchain” (EBB) in 2018. Professor Naqvi has given over 600 talks (200+ keynotes) on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies. He has also become the world’s first person to be awarded a UK National Honour in the field of Blockchain.
